Healing Arts Jaipur

Spanning four months, Healing Arts Jaipur included an exhibition by the Corona Quilt Project at Nila House, and a series of public dialogues.

Healing Arts Jaipur was centred around a public art installation by the Corona Quilt Project in collaboration with Nila House and The Art Lab Studio. The Corona Quilt Project is an India-wide artisan engagement initiative conceived by Dia Mehhta Bhupal and Neha Modi. In direct collaboration with communities in New Delhi, Goa, and Jaipur, the project offered an inclusive channel of collective healing in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

9 March – 31 July 2022 | Corona Quilt Project Exhibition

This latest iteration of the Corona Quilt Project engaged with craftspeople from across Rajasthan to create sensitive, site-responsive artworks on the themes of nature and symmetry.

15 March 2022 | Virtual Launch Episode 1: A Personal Response by Christopher Bailey

Reflecting on the recent history of quilt making and his personal connection to the craft, Christopher Bailey (Arts & Health Lead, WHO) framed the Corona Quilt Project within the WHO definition of physical, mental, and social health.

2 May 2022 | Virtual Launch Episode 2: Stories of Healing in Cloth

Narrated by Corona Quilt Project founders, Dia Mehhta Bhupal & Neha Modi with commentary by Nila House, this video highlights the crafts practitioners and students who were given no other brief but to express themselves through textile, creating hundreds of individual square artworks which were then stitched together to create the final quilt.
