UNGA Healing Arts Week 2024 is produced by the Jameel Arts & Health Lab in collaboration with the World Health Organization. The week will feature a research symposium at NYU Steinhardt, a policy panel at Lincoln Center, and a concert and reception at Carnegie Hall.

This full-day symposium featured examples of research and practice that support social connection throughout New York City and beyond. The symposium included opening remarks from world-renowned soprano and WHO Arts & Health Ambassador, Renée Fleming, a roundtable discussion featuring NEA Chair, Dr. Maria Rosario Jackson, and a keynote speech from Dr. Jeremy, Nobel.As the author of Project UnLonely, Dr. Nobel unpacked our personal and shared experiences of loneliness to discover its roots and to show how we can take steps to find comfort and connection through opportunities for creative expression.

In recognition of the evidence of how the arts support human development and health outcomes across the lifespan, this panel at Lincoln Center focused on efforts to expand access to the arts and creative arts therapies in health, culture, and education policy.
19 September 2024, Evening | Well-Being Concert & Healing Arts Reception
Weill Roof Terrace, Carnegie Hall
Following last year’s successful WHO75 Well-Being Concert at Carnegie Hall, Healing Arts hosted the second annual Well-Being Concert and special reception to celebrate the arts & health community in NYC.
- The reception was held on Carnegie Hall’s iconic Weill Roof Terrace with stunning views of Manhattan
- Opening remarks and scenography celebrated the work of artists, researchers and policymakers working at the intersection of arts and health
20 September 2024, 12:30 PM - 2:30PM | HHArt of Medicine: Art Observation Workshop
The Whitney Museum of American Art
This workshop was co-led by a museum educator, a Licensed Creative Arts Therapist and hospital participants to create a safe and contemplative environment to reflect on their experiences through artwork-led discussions, artmaking, and reflective writing. Participants experienced how one of the world’s most established art institutions and learn how the Arts in Medicine department at NYC Health + Hospitals has incorporated the workshop into their programmatic offerings.
